Privacy Policy

Occlude ("the App") is an offline photo redaction tool. This policy explains, in plain language, what the App does with your data. The short version: it does nothing with it. Everything stays on your device.

1. Data Processing — On Device Only

All image processing happens locally on your device:

• Text detection (OCR) uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Detected text never leaves your device.
• Redaction rendering (covering sensitive content with black blocks or brush strokes) is performed locally using Core Graphics / Core Image.
• Output images are written directly to your photo library and are stripped of metadata (EXIF/GPS).

2. Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. Period. Specifically:

• No account system — there is nothing to sign in to.
• No analytics — no tracking, no usage statistics, no crash reports sent to us.
• No advertising SDKs — the App contains no ads and no ad frameworks.
• No third-party SDKs — the App uses only Apple system frameworks.
• No network requests initiated by the App's own code. The App can be verified with a packet sniffer (e.g., Charles Proxy) — no traffic leaves your device during normal use.

3. Photo Library Permission

The App requests write-only access (addOnly) to your photo library, used solely to save the redacted image you choose to export. The App never reads, browses, or uploads your photo library. Photo selection uses Apple's system picker (PhotosPicker), which runs outside the App's sandbox.

4. Purchases (In-App Purchase)

• The App offers a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase to unlock unlimited exports.
• Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store / StoreKit). We never see or store your payment information.
• Your unlock status is stored in your device's Keychain (and is re-verified against Apple's servers on launch).
• Apple may collect transaction data as described in Apple's own privacy policy; we have no access to it.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because there is no server-side component, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Deleting the App from your device removes all local data (except the images you chose to save to your photo library).

6. Children's Privacy

The App does not target children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
